My CJ goes really well with the 304, Edelbrock Intake, Holley 650, 9:1 compression and performance cam. My issue is stopping it takes a long distance and a short prayer. I’m sure I could do a better job adjusting the drum brakes but I really want disc brakes.

I couldn’t figure out why there wasn’t a Wilwood kit for the 1974 CJ. Ummm duh, there isn’t a tab to mount the brake caliper on the knuckle.

So... I have decided to fit later CJ disc brake knuckles (and all associated parts) and get a set of Wilwood front brakes. I might do an axle swap for rears but that will be way in the future!

So far I bought a set of knuckles. One new and one used. Only you can only buy the driver’s side new...???

I am going to get the knuckles powder coated and ready for install. Once that is done I will have new ball joints pressed in.

I need to buy: spindles, hubs, locking hubs and nuts, washers, bearings. Oh, and the brake kit!

I don’t think my 15 inch rims will work. The kit calls for a 16 inch rim but I run spacers so maybe that gives me more room?? If not I need some new Super Swampers anyhow...... the ones on her are 35 yrs old! So I might go 16in rims / new tires.

Will my master cylinder work? Is the existing proportioning valve ok? Anything I am not thinking if or looking at the wrong way??

    Anyone else try this yet?

Do my drum brakes / drum knuckles have much value?

Chevy caliper mounts, 1977 jeep cj5 disks and blazer calipers with pads. The hubs should be for a D30 disk brake setup as the inside is machined for the disk to run true. I did all mine with sale parts from rock auto.

I originally did mine for a D25, but its the same for a d30 aside from having to grind a very small bit off the caliper.

You also need the brake caliper mounts and I would buy the disk hubs too.

You'll need to change out the residual pressure valves, they'll be set for 10 lbs & you only want 2 lbs for disks, not sure on yours but they may be built into the proportioning valve.

x2- I'll guarantee therer's someone here who wants them.
