Treated it like the truck I just sold. Went to the lumber yard for some 12’ material. Got some funny looks! Wait until I need 16’ers!!

Not today, but picked up a CJ6 tub yesterday. It's pretty rough by California standards, but came with some decent parts.

Installed the gas tank skid plate. It came with the purchase but was laying in the back yard for a year .
If you do this my recommendation is to get the back wheels on some ramps or boards. You just need the space to breathe. Or maybe it's my gut...

image.jpeg Discovered some previous frame damage. I was able to straighten and repair the forward bracket.

image.jpeg The rear will need a new bracket and strengthening. Bracket is on order and I'm out of time for now.

My Jeep got new leaf springs on all four corners this afternoon. It's been a long time coming! Since I bought it it has had a bad list to the right way beyond the usual Jeep "lean". I have no idea what the PO did to the springs that were on it but it leaned something awful. Now the stock height is restored and it sits level again. I came away pleased after a test ride, although there was one more leaf on each of the new springs compared to the ones that came off the ride was firm not harsh. The project was well worth my time.

Sunday, put the fenders and hood on for the last time. Transmission covers on. Heater air intake hose installed, that was fun.

image.jpeg Also, got new springs mounted. The old ones where completely flat. I'm trying to get as much as I can before summer. Can't get much done when it's 110 deg. Work continues to get in the way of my projects.

image.jpeg Need some help. I'm working on my front end and wonder about greasing the locking hubs. On the left it has a snap ring. In the past I would remove it and springs and ball bearings would fly out. Can I (should I) take it apart to grease. On the right, if I grease the pins and push them in is that good. Of course cover everything with grease as well. Also I have red grease. It says not to mix with other grease. I've cleaned all parts as well as I could. Should I use another grease? Axle ect is out for disk conversion. Sorry to ask dumb questions. Thanks

The parts inside on the left are shorter and smaller diameter versions of what's on the right that stay in place nicely with the red grease.
Usually, the bearing race is worn out inside of that hub on the left, meaning the rollers that go evrywhere are worn out as well.
IMHO, that exact part is a common drivetrain noise that folks will say "it always sounds like that." I don't know if there is a whole replacement bearing sold for that.

This project required lots of work and deep thought. But I managed to get it done. After carefully measuring with the highest precision instruments known to man, I put the correct decal on Ted's air cleaner. Its very precision.

Would it be wise to remove the snap ring and attempt to grease it. Or would I never get it back together. Thanks for reply

image.jpeg I was putting things back together today and noticed one of the bolt holes on the knuckle was stripped. I stopped with the brake install for now. Was thinking about trying weld it up and re-thread. Or getting a new knuckle. Or just using 5 bolts to hold the bracket on. Has anyone had a problem with this, any advise?

Might want to try a heli-coil to repair the stripped out thread.
