Usually my ratcheting straps are in 2 distinct conditions - 1) coiled up nicely - when I have the time. Or 2) strewn about after being used a few days before, either in the bed of the truck or the floor in the garage.

I came across a good idea on keeping the straps coiled up when not in use.

Larger straps - coil then up, then use one of the little bungee/ball things designed to hold tarps to their metal car-port frame to keep the strap in place. Then I put a couple straps in a .50 cal ammo can in the truck toolbox. The bungee/ball things are about 40 cents each at the flea market

Smaller straps - coil then up, then use a 1/2" wide slice of an old bicycle inner-tube as a "rubber band" to keep the strap together. You can put a lot of the smaller straps in an ammo can and you can get a lot of 1/2 inch slices from one bicycle tube for the bands. I also keep a baggie of the one half inch "bands" in the same ammo can as the smaller straps.

Any other ideas for strap storage?

For the 1" wide ratchet straps, I steal my girlfreind's pony-tail elastic hair ties. Then, 3 or 4 sets are stored in clear zip-lock baggies.

The 1" type I slide the ratchet all the way up 'short', then coil the tail and just wrap the last three or four feet of the tail around the waist of coil with the ratchet inside. Works fine.

I use the bicycle inner-tube method. Use those for quite a few things actually.

I randomly throw them in a crate with 30 others.. Try to remove one and magically they all bond into one continuous strap... Someday I will learn.. someday..

All my ratchet straps are folded with a rubber band around them and then stuck individually in a ziplock bag and stored in the toolbox under my back seat. Takes about 10 seconds to have one ready to use, I hate untying a bunch of straps.

If I know I won't use them soon I go to the trouble to roll them up.

Mine are rolled up and in a box. Either an ammo can, a truck style box, or under a seat. They stay that way and there are no rubber bands, women's hair ties, or ripped up baggies to deal with. My straps get dirty. I strap down things that may be covered in dirt, grease, or oil and I won't pretend they will be clean when I need them. So I have no trouble storing them without bags.

I hang them by both hooks and just let the strap hang between. They line up nicely.

My method too, but I stuff them in a canvas bag where they intertwine and breed.

For the smaller straps that will fit--wrap up and stuff individually into ankle socks. A long lasting "baggie".

I take the time to coil. My bungee's are hooked to the edge of my truck box.

For my new set I'm using a zip tie, but not zipped too tight.

I wouldn't know because I have no interest in starting with the A's and reading that far to get to the O's.

I always relate them to a box of worms, all your ideas are better than mine. I tie them with Para cord, and it's apita. I am going to do the bike tube thing, my wife does not have a Pony Tail.
