I have 2 wiper motors 12volt that came with my ventalated windshield they go in the way of opening the windshield I'm not sure if it's from the po from not putting them on right or what. I'm not going to use them or the wipers going to put vaccum/ hand wipers on mine if you want to trade or? I got the arms a little bit ago for mine just need to finish the hand wiper mods.

Here's what I hope is the final product. I like this way better than yesterday's attempt.

I like that! Nice work - a lot of thought then a surprisingly simple elegant solution. And I appreciate that you didn't modify the original arms.

I put the rest of the hardware (latches) on and it's just about complete with the exception of wipers and the seal. The seal I got with it is trashed. I'm not willing to spend $100 on a new one just yet.

WILLYS JEEP FLIP OUT WINDSHEILD GASKET NOS #958731 CJ3B CJ5 CJ6 | eBay This is the seal I ordered fit on inner frame great. I haven't put inner frame on outer yet but I'm sure it will work. Looks a lot like original seal.

I might be able to salvage the one I have. I need to revive it with some Armor All or something first.

As discussed in another thread ("Green Windshield?') you can definitely see some green tint. It's like looking through a vintage filter. I feel like I'm in the 70's. :)

You can clearly see the difference.

Dow Corning makes a heavy silicone grease called Molykote 555. It is engineered to lubricate o-rings in industrial water applications. Therefore, totally waterproof and harmless to rubber. Seems to really revive the rubber. I use it on all types of seals with great results.

The little packets of dielectric grease or the ones used for spark plug boots is similar, but that Molykote is really nice stuff.

So I've been reading and reading about the $50 Rustoleum roll on paint job after the how much I liked it on my hard top. Today I went and spent $47 on misc supplies. I pulled the hood and started sanding it. For a couple of rough spots I broke out the drill with a Harbor Freight synthetic looking "wire wheel". I didn't intend on going so deep with the drill, but it didn't take long for the original paint to come through. I talked about it a long time ago here - Getting Down To Original Paint.

Now I've decided to go for it! I'm drawn to (some) old vehicles that still have their original paint...Surface rust and all. There's some spots where I welded up some holes. We'll just have to see what that will look like when the time comes.

Here's the hood shortly after I got started. There was some small peeling in the crease where the raised part of the hood starts.

Here's the drill attachment. I'll have to go get some more because it's slowly coming apart. The blue one is less aggressive than the red one they carry.

I took it to the Jeep to see what I was in for before I committed to the hood. Here's a cleared spot with Du Pont No7 rubbing compound.

    Thanks.

I only want to remove the primer and save the original paint... How do these perform?
