This is the beginning of my rebuild, the easy and cheap part of it! I'm at the point of starting to rebuild one piece at a time. It'll be a slow process but it will be fun. Didn't get a ton of pictures of taking stuff apart so I'll be sure to get more of putting it back together. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

OMG! It turned into a pile of parts right before my eyes! Way to go. Demo is always fun.

That looks exactly like my '59 did when I started. Went through the same process.

Nice, President Red? Do you plan on reprinting it the same color? Looks like a really sound jeep! Keep the post and pictures coming.

That is some great looking sheet metal!!!!!!!

Putting it back together as a original restoration?

The winch is an old Ramsey 8,000 lb., still works pretty good. The sticker is a "Selectro" sticker for the locking hubs up front[IMG]

Yes, pretty sure that's the original paint color. I'm thinking of something a little more orangish-red.

Not original drivetrain, but going to keep outside as original as possible. I want to be able to drive to the trails and tow a small trailer.

Here's my SM420 adapted to D18 t-case, that with a Chevy TBI 4.3 V6 should be pretty good! Still looking for a motor though.[IMG]

Assuming you can move that 4.3 a little forward it still looks like your going to have a short rear drive shaft!

I spent 2 years on mine start to finish. That was pretty much devoting every weekend to it.

Well it's been 3 years and I'm finally getting back into working on the Jeep! I've bought a lot of parts and done some work so I figured it's time for an update. I've got my Dana 44 rear fully built with 4:56 gears, Detroit trutrac locker, 11" drum brakes, and full floating axles.
    Full Floater Question
I have my Dana 30 gears setup and working on the outer axles. Just need to press in my ball joints and put it all together. I got new 4340 axle shafts with Yukon super joints. IMG_2348.JPG We'll see how these are, it's a little weird that they don't have any roller bearings. And here's some pictures of the axles IMG_2350.JPG At this angle the d30 looks crooked but it's good!

When I bought the D30 it had the truss on it already, I think it looks ok so as long as it doesn't interfere with anything I think I'll keep it.

Good to see your back working on your project................................Something to think about is that truss will limit your axle Bump / up travel as it will hit the frame sooner under compression.
