You mention that you have the low mount pump as well. Have you tried using it and rotating it upwards to see if that might give you enough clearance? If you install the pump using just the bolt closest to the intake manifold and then rotate the pump and brackets upwards to gain clearance. If it did work you would then have do redrill the hole for the upper bolt lower on the bracket and add an ear to the bottom of the bracket to catch the lower bolt. Hope this makes sense. I have heard of others doing this and plan to do it myself for other clearance issues. Good luck

I thought of doing exactly that, but I really don't have the fabrication skills to do it.

Doug, I really think you just have the wrong Bracket for this application...............What you have looks like a Buick 350 mount , keeping in mind that Buick made several different mounts along the way both High & Low.

I think I would look around for an earlier high mount...........keeping in mind on some early Buicks they also used a different shaped pump. There are at least 4-5 different configurations that I have seen.

I bought this high mount bracket (from eBay) & it was listed as a 70 Skylark 350 setup...it was my understanding that it would work on a Dauntless. I also have a low mount version that I bought from a member here...I think it's a 231 setup. It won't work with the stock exhaust manifold.

For people searching this thread in the future: This is the bracket setup that works best. There are several different ones that can work, this one simply works the best overall in the longrun once you swap everything to where Jeep should have done it to begin with.

That is correct , but that bracket only works on headers and / or maybe some rear dump cast iron manifolds..................Doug , looks like he is still using the front dump manifolds.

10-4 Doug...........I think if your going to use those cast Iron manifolds and don't want to bend up your inside fender panels , you'll have to find the correct bracket.........or go headers and I think you already have those correct brackets...............the right ones are out there for your situation ..........somewhere?

That's sort of what I was getting at. To do hanging pedals, saginaw power steering, rear dump exhaust, power brakes and a hydraulic clutch all at the same time and be done with it. Much easier to do all at one time instead of piecing it all together over time.

I agree with this statement. FWIW i have the bracket posted above in Daryls picture. I was told that was from a Buick 350 from around 1970. I could be wrong. It works well for me because I do not have a front dump manifold.

Much of that is stuff I don't want to change on my Jeep. I have a complete functional stock exhaust y pipe in good condition. So, trying not to switch manifolds. I have a stock dual master cylinder and cable operated clutch that both function well. So no switching to hanging pedals (even though power brakes would be kinda nice).
But I got tired of the Ross steering a couple of years ago and switched to a manual Saginaw box....then last year I had shoulder surgery, so I thought "switch to a power box, hang a pump on it, and voila-power steering! "
But it's proving to be a little more difficult than I thought. ..

I think we can make this a joint effort...........Focker , Your brackets look much like Piffey's although in his pictures he looks to have more fender clearance than you do...............Not sure why that is the case? What do you think? Can you get some better detailed pictures of your's along with any numbers that may be on there..................I'll send a PM to Piffey and ask him to do the same..........I assume both of you are using the Front Dump Cast Iron manifolds like the ones Doug is using?
Anyone else watching this thread that has a similar set-up that can supply info / pictures were all ears.........hopefully we can figure out what bracket that is and find one for Doug.

Doug , If you can get us some dimensions off your bracket or trace it on a piece of paper that may also help us figure what you have as compared to the others that seem to fit.

    Yes...I do.

Since I painted everything black it's hard to see the shape of the brackets. I remember seeing my same brackets on ebay some time ago...I'm trying to find that image right now.

I should have photo documented the cleaning/painting of mine when I had the engine out. :worry:
