I have a CJ2A on a 79 CJ5 frame, that had a Buick 3,8 mated to an sm420. The 3.8 was pretty close to the firewall as things were already.

Have a friend who is getting rid of a Chevy 3.8 that's in a Jeepster....how much difficulty would it be to drop that into the CJ2A in place of the Buick 3.8? Will the distributor be in the way?

I'd check and measure, but the body is off the frame right now. :(

Yep Chevy with the distributor in the back...........will not go in the same location as the Buick would without putting an Extra large dent in the firewall.............Even if you can get some clearance taking the distributor out will not happen unless the motor is at least 3 inches forward...............

I used an old Ford V-8 oil pan to clear my distributor.

Thanks man...and that sucks. Was hoping it might slide right in there. :( If I move it, I move everything....transmission...transfer....drive shafts....motor mounts....etc.

Bellhousing isn't so much an issue as is moving everything.
