I mounted my rear Smittybilt seat using factory slide mounts and building an aluminum sub frame. I flipped the front aftermarket mounts over and used some spare rubber blocks I had to mount through them. This raises the aftermarket seat up and allows storage underneath.

Anyone ever try putting old landcruiser sideways mount rear seats in a jeep?

You mean the jump seats? You could do it I'm sure, but they probably wouldn't work well with a top. Export CJ6s with jump seats had lower wheel wells and raised hardtops so the seats could be used IIRC.

So those black brackets that run front to back and have the aluminum frame attached to them, those are the factory seat brackets? How far do you think the factory rear seat was off the floor of the Jeep? My GFs '73 has some kind of fold and tumble in it. It's mounted directly to the floor. It's very much a "knees in nostrils" kind of seating position. I didn't even realize they were raised up off the tub.

Yes, the black brackets are stock. I'll try to remember to get some measurements. I had pictures of the tape against the brackets, but I've deleted them.

This era of jeeps didn't have fold and tumble that I'm aware. Mine is a fixed back version of an aftermarket fold and tumble. I didn't want it sitting on the floor like you describe, and that's why I made it work on the factory brackets.
