Hello ,
i was ordering parts at 4wd , the technical guy told me that the t14a will be to weak for my engine (305 chevy tbi).
i was afraid, so i've phoned advance adapter , and they sais they some customer riding the t14 with v8 without problem.
Is there anybody who has any experience of this tranny ...
i have two of them ,so i would like to search for an other one ,
especially that for an european guy finding a segond hand tranny of an american car ...... i will have to buy it on ebay ...
thank's

Your success will mostly depend on your driving style. Be nice, and it'll last. Abuse it, and you will break it. Shift slowly, no burn-outs, and only use as much throttle as you need.
The T14A is a fairly strong transmission, although not the strongest that Jeep used. Originally it was paired with 6-cylinder engines in the 150HP range. Both the T15 and T150 are stronger 3-speed transmissions, but neither will work in place of the T14 without some modification.

thank's ,
it's strange , when you look into advance adpter catalog,
they describe the t14 as the t150 as medium duty;
when you open them there are pretty similar in pinion and tooth size .
Why the t150 will be stronger than the t14 ?
anyway i already feel a bit more confident , and will use the t14
as i don't have any thing else ....
With your wheel base, why not use a Turbo 350?

How much would it cost to have one rebuilt there?
Here it's common or was last I checked TH350 $350 USD, TH400 $400 USD.
I just took one in dropped it off and took a rebuilt one out of the tranny shop that they had on the shelf. But then they're probably more common here than in Europe.

a few month ago , i was searching a th350 , i've found one 1000$,
he sais it was rebuilted... but i'm sure not the perfect way ,
plus the adapters , it will cost too much for me ,
i ride already the cherokee in auto , so even i know auto is great
for off-road ,
i think i will go for a stick into the cj6 , more fun , and easier to do the as.... . i think it's the way you say it . R)

The T150 was used in V8 CJ-5s and CJ-7s with good reliability from 1976 to 1979. I have not owned one of these vehicles, but I do know that the T150 had a good service record when new. I also believe Novak when they say that the T150 will stand up to most V8s http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/t150.htm
I can't cite a specific source, but it's my understanding that the T150 behind the 304 V8 had a better service record than the T14 behind either the 225 V6 or the 258 I6.
BTW the T150 was made by Tremac, not Borg-Warner as listed on the Novak web site.
Re why, I don't know exactly. I'd guess it's simply a newer design than the T14 and has better alloys, technology, etc.
hth :)
