New to this forum, but I have been taking alot of valuable information from the web site-Great Job to everyone invloved.
I am rebuilding a 66' Tuxedo Park Mark IV and the transmission is a T86A. But according to all of the manuals and parts diagrams, the T86A is supposed to have an intermidiate (SP) shaft that has straight or parrallel groves that run down the shaft. The one in my transmission has the spiral groves that I have seen in the T90 diagrams. Has something been done to my transmission before I took it apart?
Thanks for the help

Peoria, home of the Caterpillar ! Welcome !
I can't answer your question other than to say there are people out there who are using T90 gears in T86 cases ( or vica versa)
If you are not the original owner then chances are somebody may have performed trans work on the Jeep.
I better stop now before I step on my tongue !
Welcome, Meterman!!
Got pics?? :)

Welcome to another Tuxedo Park owner! How much of the Tuxedo Park options remain? We'd love to see pics!

I will send pictures soon. The only thing that remains from the Tuxedo Park are the metal dies that say Tuxedo Park on the hood. It was in pretty bad shape when I purchased it. Unfortunatley the body was pretty well rusted out.
I am putting the rebuilt 225 in tonight!!!!!

Welcome!!! Pics?
A T86 has a helical first gear so that would necesitate a mainshaft with spiral splines since the helical sliding gear would have to twist slightly to engage it's mating gear on the cluster gear. Is that what you're refering to? If yours is that way, that's the way it's supposed to be. A T90 mainshaft has straight splines. And yes, it's a fairly common practice to stick T90 gears in a T86 case.

Here are some pictures of the Jeep. It has been almost 3 years since I last worked on it, and I am ready to get my hands dirty.
I am having a problem with the transmission. I can shift into all gears while not moving. Once I start moving forward and I shift into second, I cannot get out of second gear without stopping the Jeep. Does anyone have an idea what this might be?
