Ok, it's a work in progress as far as my HTML Structure goes but the page is up in full, any corrections are appreciated as well as any Renegade

You can find it here (http://www.earlycj5.com/Tech/Renegade/index.html).

Thanks!

I believe the R1 wheels were 15"x8" not 15"x8.5".

I made a mistake on the Kelsey Hayes rims. They are 15x8 not 15x8.5. My RI currently has 15x8.5 alloy slots on it like the RII's had. I've got all five original Kelsey Hayes rims and one never used original Goodyear tire. Here's the link to pictures of my Jeep if you want to post them. http://www.printroom.com/ViewAlbum.asp?userid=bluesman2a&album_id=113646
I've also been told that seat coverings could be ordered at the dealership. That's how mine came with the diamond tuck seats. I'd love to see someone set up a early Renegade Reunion.

Robert, I am interested in your tailgate. I can't tell in the pics what the emboss says. Please enlighten me.

I'll check on the tailgate when I get home this weekend. I'm currently working out of town. The small square emblem on the lower driver's corner is an Americam Motors emblem added at the dealership. My Jeep was ordered in March 1970 and delevered in April which was after AMC bought Kaiser. The Jeep is still badged as a Kaiser and the dealerships added the AM emblem before delivery. I did not have the swing out tire carrier on when the last pictures were taken. I'll try to get some updated pictures posted this weekend.

Adam - Is there anyway to make the footnote numbers a bit smaller in the text. It took me a few minutes to figure out what they were for?

Not trying to be picky! - Just a thought. (Heck, it might have just been me - everyone else might have understood it perfectly!)

Thanks for the upgrade

53Flattie,
That's why I said my HTML was a work in progress.

I'm going to superscript them when I get the time.

Also why there's no link to it except from this page in the forum.

Sparky, You might want to mention that supposedly only 600 Renegade II's were made and they were offered in three colors: Baja Yellow, Mint Green, Riverside Orange(also called Big Bad Orange)

The colors were to commemorate wins at Baja, Riverside and the Mint 400.

I believe the wheels were American Racing aluminum rims.

Great Renegade 1 pics! I see signs of the hood being repainted. Where did you get the replacement decals?

My Renegade I was repainted in the early 80's when the original owner let it roll down a hill and hit a tree stump. It bent the bumper and radiator support. He decided to let his insurance pay to repaint it. They taped over the original decals. Any good sign shop should be able to copy the decals if you take them a pattern. I plan on making paper patterns of mine and getting an extra set made. I post an update when I get them done.

Ouch!! The upside is that the repair looks great. You mentioned in your list of Renegade features that courtesy lights on the dash and in the rear fender wells were provided. I heard of the dash light before but where exactly are the fender well lights? Is it possible to post a couple of pics of them?

In the album Tom showed pictures of ' Special sales order No. D- 5261' Do 70 Renegades have a Special Sales Order tag also? Would the tim tag that Tom showed in another picture denote 'Renegade'? Were there special Renegade paint codes?

Sparky, I think this information should be added to the 'Renegade Information Page' This is the type of thing a guy looking at a Renegade would need to know to identify it.

Agreed. Just need to be sure what we have information wise and what's relevant before I post it.

You may want to add AustinJeeps.com to the "other places on the web" They offer correct repos. of Renegade I and II decals.

In the album Tom showed pictures of ' Special sales order No. D- 5261'

The Ren II I just picked up has a tag on the passenger side that is stamped "Special sales order No. D-5262." Are these sequential, or are they paint codes, i.e. 5262 denotes Yellow, 5261 denotes orange, etc?

beeser

The paint and trim codes are on a separate tag (metal foil type) and are 3 digit numbers. The paint code will always be 999 regardless of color for the Renegade I and II. At least this is what I've found to date.

Really? So is does that mean this "Special Order No." is sequential? It seems highly unlikely to me that I would happen to find the a JEEP exactly one digit off.

Sorry Clint, I don't follow. The early Renegades were all special order to the best of my knowledge. I've seen some with the tag you described and some without. I've also seen the same or similar tag on non-Renegades. I don't know if the Special Order numbers are sequential (seems reasonable they would be) but I don't think they provide any detailed information about the vehicle production unless you had the corresponding build order from the factory. jpflat2a would probably be the best person to shed some light on this for you. Wyomike, an original purchaser of a RII, is another good resource. Good luck!

Here are the pics of the gages that you asked about:
http://www.hdts.vcn.com/JEEP/RII%20ITEMS.pdf

Also a couple of years ago I made up a quick spread sheet of item on a RII and I think you have pretty will hit everything on your page that I had.
http://www.hdts.vcn.com/JEEP/RII%20ITEMS.pdf

Here are a couple of comments that I have on this tread:

Mine did not come with any special order tag. I have seen them on regular JEEPs and I tend to think that they had nothing to do with Renegades. That is not to say that a Renegade could not have one however.

On the bottom of the page where you list places to get decals, you mention Frank Sanborn. His decals should be very acturate as I lend him a set of originals that I had. Way back in 1971 when I bought my JEEP, I ordered a FSM and a set of decals with it. (don't remember why?) I loaned them to him to make his pattern. Very NICE guy.

On my wheels, I have had a lot of guys ask me for a mod. no. or something, but the only thing on them is:
"AMERICAN RACING EQUIPMENT K.A. (71) MADE IN ENGLAND"
Thats it sorry, nothing else. Also they are 15 x 7 and had L70-15 tires on them original.

If anybody needs anything else, just let me know.
Great job Sparky. Hope you relize the apprecation we have for you for the site.
