Alan Cross's All Original 1963 Arizona Tuxedo Park Mark
III
Alan relates -
"I think the story of the jeep and how I purchased is pretty
cool. I bought it from the original owner in Kingman, AZ and
that's were it was originally bought. Her husband passed away
and they parked it for 12 years before I found it setting in
her back yard and it took me 6 months to talk her out of it. I
thought I was going to steal it but she was feisty and had a
lot of history with the Jeep. She had family pictures
stories... Also funny when my wife said "There is no for sale
sign don't go knock on the you might get shot." Then the lady
teased me about my 2004 4x4 wondering why I wanted her Jeep, I
probably don't go off-road in my truck. Well, when I started
looking into the Jeep I found out it was pretty rare; she told
me it was a Tuxedo Mark IV but I couldn't verify it with the
VIN number. I later found out about the Mark III that had CJ5
(VIN) #s and PINK HA HA.
There isn't nearly enough known about these Jeeps in my
opinion. This Jeep is a great example of a Mark III, intact
down to the Indian Ceramic steering wheel. Try to get that from
Walck's (or any other Willys Parts Supplier)! The white grille
is original.
This package was just the first step in big things to come
for Kaiser that wouldn't all shake out until 1969 and 1970. In
the interim the Tuxedo Park Mark IV as a seperate model, the
CJ-5A/6A was offered after the Mark III. But the Mark IVs
lacked the distinctive color of the Mark IIIs and had a 14 page
guide of Parts
Peculiar.
